Cheese sev puri is a quick and easy snack that will go really well with your evening tea. This delicious snack is made with crispy puri/papdi which is topped with cheesy mashed potato, onion, tomato, ketchup, lots of cheese and sev. So if you are craving sev puri or papdi chaat and don’t want to make chutneys (or don’t have dahi/curd) then give this recipe a try. It’s a little different but I think you’ll like it.

What is sev puri?

Sev puri is a popular street food that originated in Mumbai. It is made with puri or papdi which is a fried cracker that is made with flour. These puris are topped with boiled potato, chopped onion, tomato, different kinds of chutneys, chaat masala, cumin powder, black salt, lemon juice, sev etc.

What is papdi chaat?

Papdi chaat is quite similar to sev puri. Both the snacks are made with puri/papdi. But papdi chaat is a popular North Indian street food in which the papdis are topped with boiled chickpea, potato, onion, tomato, a few chutneys, spices and dahi/curd/yoghurt.

About this recipe:

Now coming to this recipe, cheese sev puri is really simple to make. This sev puri/papdi chaat is made without chutneys and dahi. Instead of that, I have used tomato ketchup. It makes this snack a little sweet and tangy. And I have flavoured the boiled potato with processed cheese, chaat masala, garlic powder, green chilli and salt. Then topped the puris with potato mixture, chopped onions, tomato, ketchup, cheese and sev.
