Tawa Pulao

Spicy and tangy tawa pulao is the perfect medley of rice, veggies and spices. To make this dish, all the veggies are sauteed in butter, cooked with the pao bhaji masala and then steamed rice is mixed in. It is best served with raita and onions.

Ingredients
  

  • 3 cups cooked rice
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 1 tbsp oil
  • 2 tsp cumin seeds
  • ½ cup onion chopped
  • 1 tsp ginger-garlic paste
  • 1/ cup tomato chopped
  • cup green bell pepper chopped
  • cup red bell pepper chopped
  • cup cabbage chopped
  • cup carrot chopped
  • cup green peas
  • 2 tbsp pav bhaji masala
  • 1 tsp coriander powder
  • ½ tsp turmeric powder
  • ½ tsp red chilli powder
  • Salt to taste
  • 3 tbsp coriander leaves chopped
  • 3 tbsp mint leaves chopped
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice

Instructions
 

  • Boil water in a pot. Add carrots and green peas. Boil for about 5 minutes or until they are tender. Then drain the water out. Keep it aside.
  • In a non-stick pan heat butter and oil on medium flame. Add cumin seeds and cook until aromatic.
  • Add chopped onions and saute until golden brown.
  • Add ginger-garlic paste and cook till the raw smell disappears.
  • Then add chopped tomatoes, green bell pepper, red bell pepper and cabbage. Mix well.
  • Cover with a lid and cook for 5 minutes.
  • Add pav bhaji masala, coriander powder, turmeric powder, red chilli powder and salt. Mix everything nicely.
  • Cook for 2-3 minutes.
  • Add the boiled carrots and green peas. Mix well.
  • Add cooked rice. Gently mix everything without breaking the rice.
  • Add chopped mint and coriander leaves. Pour lemon juice. Mix everything well.
  • Serve hot with raita and onion.
