Serves: 2 burgers

Ingredients:

For the aloo tikki:

1 tsp oil

1 tsp butter

1 green chilli, chopped

1-inch ginger, chopped

¼ cup green peas, frozen

¼ tsp turmeric powder

1 tsp red chilli powder

2 tsp chaat masala powder

2 tsp garam masala powder

¼ tsp black pepper powder

Salt to taste

4-5 boiled potatoes, chopped

5-6 mint leaves, chopped

3.5 tbsp cornflour

For the slurry:

½ cup all-purpose flour

½ cup cornflour

Salt and pepper, to taste

Water, as required

Other ingredients:

2 burger buns

Bread crumbs, to coat the tikkis

Oil for frying

Butter, as required

Tomato mayonnaise, ¼ mayo + 1 tbsp tomato ketchup

2 cheese slices

2 onion slices

Method:

Heat a pan over medium flame.

Add oil and butter. Allow the butter to melt.

Add green chilli and ginger. Cook for a minute.

Add green peas. Cook for a minute.

Add turmeric powder, red chilli powder, chaat masala powder, garam masala powder, black pepper powder and salt. Mix well. Cook for a few seconds.

Switch the flame off. Add boiled potatoes. Mash them well.

Add mint leaves and cornflour. Mix well. Keep aside to cool down.

To make the slurry, in a bowl, add all-purpose flour, cornflour, salt, black pepper and water. Make a smooth and slightly thick slurry.

Take a portion from the aloo mixture and shape it like a burger patty/tikki. 

Dip the burger patty/tikki into the slurry.

Then coat it with bread crumbs.

Heat oil in a pan over a high flame for shallow frying.

Lower the flame to medium.

Carefully drop a tikki into the hot oil.

Cook both sides until golden brown.

Slice the buns in half. Apply butter. Toast until they are crisp.

Apply tomato mayonnaise on the toasted sides of the buns.

Then place the aloo tikki on the bottom half of the bun.

Add cheese slice and onion slice.

Then place the other half on top.

Aloo tikki burger is ready to serve!
