Step 1: Prepare the Brine
- Heat a saucepan over a high flame.
- Add water, salt, cinnamon stick, black peppercorns, cloves, and beetroot.
- Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and cook for 5 minutes.
- Allow the mixture to cool down completely.
Step 2: Prepare the Onions
- Take each onion and make two cuts at the bottom, creating a cross.
- Repeat for all onions.
Step 3: Assemble and Soak
- In a glass jar, create layers:
- Onions
- Ginger and green chillies
- Repeat the layers
- Pour vinegar and the cooled beetroot water over the layers.
- Close the lid and shake well.
- Soak for 24 hours.
Step 4: Serve
- Your sirke wale pyaz are now ready to serve! Enjoy!
Notes
- Use a clean and dry glass jar to prevent contamination.
- Adjust the number of green chillies to suit your desired level of spiciness.
- Store the pickled onions in the refrigerator to prolong their shelf life.
