Masala Chai with Bun Maska

Masala chai with bun maska is a heavenly combination. This famous Indian chai or tea is brewed with a few whole spices and served with soft buns loaded with butter.

Ingredients
  

For masala chai:
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1.5 cup water
  • 2 green cardamom
  • 6 black peppercorn
  • ½ inch cinnamon stick
  • 2 cloves
  • ½ inch ginger
  • 1 tsp fennel seeds
  • 1.5 tbsp tea leaves
  • 2 tsp sugar
For bun maska:
  • 2 buns
  • 4 tbsp butter

Method
 

To make masala chai:
  1. Add green cardamoms, peppercorns, cinnamon stick, cloves, ginger and fennel seeds into a mortar and pestle. Coarsely grind them.
  2. Heat water in a saucepan over a high flame. Bring it to a boil and then add the crushed spices. Boil for 3 to 4 minutes.
  3. Pour milk and sugar. Stir it well and continue to boil for 1 to 2 minutes. Turn the heat off.
  4. Place a strainer over the teacup and pour the masala chai into it. Serve hot!
To make bun maska:
  1. Cut the buns in half. Heat a non-stick pan over low heat. Toast them for a few minutes. Then apply a generous coat of butter on both the slices of the bun. Serve with masala chai and enjoy.
