Hot Chocolate | Simple Hot Cocoa for Two

For this, you won’t be needing any chocolate bar or cream and the entire recipe is made over the stovetop. I hope you’ll give it a try. This recipe is really simple to make, and I’m sure all the ingredients are already available in your pantry.

There are so many ways of making hot chocolate at home. Some people like to add cocoa powder and some like to add actual chocolate. I personally like both. But this time I made hot chocolate with cocoa powder. And it is mildly spiced with a hint of cinnamon. To get that silky smooth texture, I have added a little cornflour. This makes the hot chocolate super creamy without adding actual cream. So if you are looking for a healthy and low fat/calorie version of hot chocolate, then give this recipe a try.

Prep Time: 5 min | Cook Time: 10 min | Total Time: 15 min

Yield: Serves 2

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups + 2 tbsp full cream milk
  • 2 tbsp cocoa powder
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 2 tsp cornflour
  • 1-inch cinnamon stick
  • Pinch of salt

Cooking Directions:

In a medium saucepan, pour milk and add the cinnamon stick. Heat the milk over a medium flame.

Bring to a light boil and reduce the flame to medium-low. Then add sugar, cocoa powder and a pinch of salt.

Whisk to combine. Then lift the cinnamon stick out of the milk and discard it.

In a small bowl, mix cornflour with 2 tbsp milk. Then pour the cornflour slurry into the saucepan. Give it a nice mix.

As soon as it starts to thicken, turn the flame off.

Allow it to cool a bit before serving.
