Easy Nutella Mug Cake Recipe

I really enjoy making these microwave mug recipes. They are quick, simple and best single-serving meals. This Nutella and chocolate cake is eggless and is also made without butter. So all those who are looking for a vegetarian mug cake recipe, do give this a try. The texture of this cake is so light and fluffy. It is filled with melted chocolate pieces and has a rich Nutella flavour. You will surely love it.

This microwave mug cake is very easy to make at home. You just need a few ingredients like all-purpose flour, baking powder, cocoa powder, sugar, milk, oil and the key ingredient of this dessert, Nutella.

And to make it a little more chocolatey, I have added a few spoonfuls of chocolate. You can use any kind of chocolate in this mug cake. But please don’t use chocolate chips, as they won’t melt that well. Here I have used a small bar of Cadbury Dairy Milk chocolate which was about 23-24g.

So next time whenever you get a sweet craving and you don’t want to make a big batch of cake, try this easy Nutella mug cake recipe. It won’t take much time to prepare and will surely satisfy your sugar cravings.

Recipe Requirement:

  • Mug: Always use a microwave-proof mug for this recipe. Here I have used a 300ml ceramic microwavable mug. If you are using a smaller mug, then adjust the quantity of the ingredients accordingly.
  • Microwave: Every microwave has a different output wattage. The cooking time will change depending upon the wattage of your microwave. Here I have cooked this mug cake in a 900W microwave and it took 1 minute 40 seconds. But if you have a 1200W microwave then the cake will cook in less time, like for example under 1 minute. So you must check the wattage of your microwave before you make this recipe.

Prep Time: 3 min | Bake Time: 1 min 40 sec | Total Time: 4 min 40 sec

Serves: 1 mug cake

Ingredients:

  • 6 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 3 tbsp cocoa powder
  • ¼+⅛ tsp baking powder
  • 3 tbsp castor sugar
  • 6 tbsp milk, at room temperature
  • 3 tbsp oil
  • 1-2 tbsp chopped chocolate, I used Cadbury Dairy Milk
  • 3 tbsp Nutella

Baking Directions:

In a 300ml microwave-safe mug, add all-purpose flour, cocoa powder, baking powder and castor sugar. Using a fork, combine everything together.

Then pour milk and oil into the mug. And give it a good mix. Make sure there are no lumps.

Add chopped chocolate pieces and Nutella. Mix again.

Add a few pieces of chopped chocolate on top of the cake batter.

Microwave it for 1 minute. Then check if it is fully baked. The cake should feel fluffy and springy to the touch.

If the cake hasn’t set then microwave it in 10-second intervals until cooked through. But don’t overdo it. As it might become too dry or burn.

Every microwave is different. So I will suggest you start with 1 minute and then continue microwaving it in 10-second intervals. My microwave is 900W and it took 1 minute and 40 seconds to bake this mug cake.
